Give in Memory

We often hear from people wishing to make a donation in memory of a loved one.
Sometimes the money has been raised by a collection at a memorial service or through fundraising.
Nana’s legacy
Kathryn Lumb’s mum Eileen was always keen that her daughter should know the importance of helping others. In turn, Kathryn wanted her own children to share the same values.
She introduced her two daughters to Mary’s Meals and together they began to fundraise by selling their old toys and books.
When ‘nana’ Eileen passed away aged 86, Kathryn and her daughters decided to send the donations made at her funeral to us as well.
“I called Mary’s Meals to discuss our options,” says Kathryn, “and we decided to cover all the feeding costs at a small school in southern Blantyre called Namitalala Primary.
“Now we have Mum’s name on the wall there, and we’re keeping up with the fundraising so we can feed the whole school again next year.”
Sponsoring a school
Our Sponsor A School initiative allows supporters to pledge covering a whole school’s annual feeding costs, to create a legacy in celebration of their loved one’s life.
A message of your choice is painted on a sign in the feeding centre, which the children will see every day as they receive their life-changing meal.
